As our customer growth expands, we have employed another new member of the team who we are very much looking forward to joining us! Nigel Sharpin, who is from Tamworth, has joined us this August and will be helping out with our remote support customers. We found out a little more about him as he prepared to start his new role as a senior IT Technician.
What qualifications do you have?
Advanced GNVQ IT, CompTIA ITF+, CompTIA A+ and currently working towards Network + and Security +.
Where have you previously worked and what did you do?
For the majority of my working life, I have been in IT. My two standout jobs spread across two different sectors, the Education sector as a Senior IT Technician for Norfolk Education Services, supporting schools & colleges across Norfolk… and my most recent previous position, Group IT Technician for Bromford Industries in Aerospace supporting 4 sites across the East/West Midlands area. This was at all different levels, 1st, 2nd or 3rd line IT support, probably the most challenging position to date, but hugely rewarding at the same time, has definitely added some important layers to my skillset.
What will you be doing in your new role?
Heading back into a Senior IT technician role, a tailored role for the business, so I am hoping I can bring a wealth of knowledge to the table and cannot wait to get started, a huge and exciting opportunity.
Why did you join Link ICT?
I can see Link ICT is ambitious and growing, so I was excited to be a part of its expanding team and help Link ICT move even further forward in the market.
What hobbies and interests do you do?
Huge football fan! Unfortunately, I am a lifelong Manchester United supporter, things are not rosy at the moment! I am also keen on many different genres of music and have my own studio so attempting to make the next big sound. I also like to exercise as much as I can, walking/running/cycling, but tend to end up in the pub at the end which is not the best thing to do, but do love the social aspect.
Tell us something amazing you have done!
In June 2021, we walked the coast to coast, which is 192 miles from St Bees in Cumbria, across to Robin Hood’s bay in Whitby. It was the most challenging task I have ever completed in my life and immensely proud to have completed it with the help of our team: consisting of my partner who is 39 years old, and my partner’s Dad who is 72 years old and my partners two aunties, one 76 years old and one 82 years old. Truly inspiring!!
Looks like Nigel has got the skill set to really make a difference at Link, we are so excited to see what he brings to the team! Welcome, Nigel!
